Köszönöm mindazoknak, akik gondoltak Maggira és imádkoztak érte.Már másnapra sokkal jobban volt, bár szerintem ehhez hozzátartozik, hogy talán ők sokkal erősebbek, mint mi, európai emberek. Mikor kérdeztem tőle másnap, hogy nem kellene-e még feküdnie, azt válaszolta, hogy nem fekszik, mert attól csak egyre jobban legyengül. Szóval fent volt, és ugyanúgy csinálta minden feladatát, mintha semmi baja sem lenne. Tegnap azt mondta, hogy már csak a feje fáj. Talán még a héten szednie kell a gyógyszereket és utána megy vissza az orvoshoz.
Tegnap valakitől hallottam, hogy egy másik kisfiú hányt, reméljük, csak egy kóbor gyomorontás lesz, nem valami újabb betegség. Hát mondjuk ehhez hozzátartozik, hogy a higiéniai körülmények a legalsóbb szintet sem ütik meg, így "természetes" hogy előfordulnak betegségek, fertőzések. Ahhoz, hogy ez változzon, sok mindenre szükség lenne, van ami pénz kérdés, van ami hozzáállás, tudatlanság vagy kultúra kérdése. De az itt természetes, hogy mindenféle bogarak nyugodtan rohangásznak a munkafelületeken, edényeken, tisztítószerek használata nem nagyon gyakori. Az egész konyhát egy fertőtlenítés, bogárírtás utáni tisztasági festéssel kellene kezdeni, és ajtóval ellátott konyhaszekrényekben kellene tárolni minden edényt, zöldséget, nem kellene elől hagyni ételmaradékokat, mosatlanokat éjszakára, meg hát szúnyoghálók kellenének ajtóra, ablakokra, stb. stb. a sornak se vége se hossza, de hát emellett még millió más, ennél fontosabb igényük is van, így ebből sok nem fog megvalósulni. Amit tudunk megteszünk, de hát a bogarakkal nem tudjuk felvenni a versenyt. Annyit elértem, amióta itt vagyunk, hogy minden este elmosogatunk, annak ellenére, hogy jelezték ez nem fontos este, mindig reggel szokták csinálni.
Szerettünk volna örömet szerezni a gyermekeknek, hogy ruhát vásárolunk a számukra. Az itteniek javaslatára egy bálányi használt ruhát vettünk, ami ugyan olcsóbb volt, mintha egyesével vettük volna, de meg volt a kockázat, hogy nem tudtuk mi van benne. Sajnos egy kis csalódás volt (számunkra), mert többnyira hosszú újjú pullóverek és nadrágok voltak bennük. De a gyerekek nagyon örültek nekik, és nagy örömmel viselik azóta is őket. Mostansag reggelente meg estefelé egy kicsit hűvöskés az idő igy nem olyan nagy probléma. A nagyobbaknak (tinédzser fiúk és egy lány) nem volt benne semmi, így ők külön kaptak pénzt, hogy vásároljanak maguknak rajta, amikre szükségük van. Nagy örömmel mutatták aztán ők is a nadrágokat, pólokat, pullóvereket, amiket vásároltak a pénzen. Ezeket abból a pénzből
vásároltuk, amiket sikerült összegyűjtenünk kiutazásunk előtt. Már vannak tervek a további összegek felhasználására is, majd ha megvalósultak, jezem mindenképpen, hogy azok, akik adakoztak, tudhassák, hogy mire fordítottuk ezeket a pénzeket. Többszöri egyeztetés uán próbáltuk tőlük megtudni, hogy milyen szükségeiknek van szerin­­tük prioritása, és ami belefér a kereteink közé, abból próbáltunk megvalósítani minél többet.
Mi hála az Úrnak jól vagyunk, az Úr megerősítette az ellenálló képességünket. Már egy újabb szobatársunk van, egy kis egérke, és ma reggel találam egy haldokló csótányt is. Az időjárás egy kicsit esősebb, mint gondoltuk. Úgy tűnik, a márciusra ígért esős évszak egy kicsit korábban érkezik, és ennek nem nagyon örülünk, mert egyébként is szokott bőven részünk lenni benne Angliában. (Bár halljuk, hogy most ott hóakadályokkal küszködnek.).
Ma meglátogattunk egy helyi kb. 200 fős gyülekezetet. Nagyon jól éreztük magunkat, bár sokszor még van gondunk az ugandaiak angoljával (nekik meg a mienkkel !:)) Lelkes dicsőítés volt, és az ighirdetés bár egy kicsit ugyan hosszú, de üzenettel bíró volt.

Thank you those who thought and prayed for Maggie. The next day she was much butter, but my opinion that maybe they are much stronger than us, European people. When I asked her if she shouldn’t lay in bed she answered that she doesn't lay because she would be much weaker from that. She is on her feet all days and does her job, showing everything is OK with her. Yesterday she told to me she had only headache. Maybe she has to take in the tablets this week, after has to go back to the doctor.
Yesterday I heard that an other little boy was vomiting, but we hope this is not again a serious sickness just some stomach indigestion. Telling the truth the hygienic conditions doesn't reach the bottom level, so it is "natural" that sickness and infections coming up again and again. To change this it would be needed a lot of things, some of them acquires more money or the change of the attitude. Some things stem from the lack of their knowledge or culture. The fact, the insects and other small "creatures" can climb up and down without any problem on the surface of the kitchen cabinets and the "clean" plates and dishes, doesn't cause any surprise, nobody takes aback (expect me) and they don't use too much cleaning products. The first step would be to get rid of the insects, after whitewash or paint and clean the whole kitchen, store the clean plates, mugs, etc. in closed kitchen cabinets. The leftover foods and vegetable and the dirty dishes shouldn't been left on the surface for nights, and mosquito nets would be useful for the windows and doors etc. etc. I lost count the needs and apart from the kitchen there are a lot of other maybe more important needs so maybe he main part of these remain just a daydream. We do our best but we can't cope with the insects. From the time we are here I or we do the washing up in the evenings dispite theo told us no need to do in the night, it will be done in the morning.
We wanted to bring happiness for the children by buying clothes for them. The staffs recommended to us to buy a bale of secondhand clothes because it is cheaper comparing to buy one by one but there was a risk not knowing what is in it. Unfortunately it cause us a little disappointment because most of the clothes were long sleeves jumpers and long trousers. But the children were really happy and they wear them with joy. These days are a little bit cooler and wetter so it is not a big problem to use the warmer clothes. For the bigger boys and the girl didn’t have anything among the clothes so we gave them money to buy themselves what they need. After the shopping they showed us with joy their "new" trousers, T-shirts and jumpers. These things we bought from the money that we raised before. We have plans for the use of the other money as well, if they fulfilled I'll give notice that the people who gave us money would know what did we do with these money. After some meetings we tried to learn their needs, what had priority and in according to our budget we try to fulfill most of them.
Thanks to God we are all right, God strengthen our resistance to disease. We have a new visitor in our bedroom, a small mouse and this morning I found a half dead cockroach as well. The weather is wetter than we thought. It seems the rainy season that was promised for March arrived earlier and we aren't too happy about this because we have a lot of rain in the UK. (But we heard they are struggling with snow problems right now.)
Sunday we visited a local church, it has about 200 members. We enjoyed but sometimes we have difficulties with their English (and they have with ours!). They were really joyful in the worship and the preaching was a little bit long but had a lot of really good point.
